FAQs - Chabad at Pitt

What is Chabad?

Chabad is a movement that spreads Jewish awareness to Jews worldwide without any judgement. The word Chabad is an acronym for Chochma (wisdom), Binah (knowledge), and Daas (understanding)--do not just think it, do it. Everyone is accepted and there is no pressure to become more observant.

Do I have to be religious to come?

No! A Jew is a Jew is a Jew. Everybody is welcome to Chabad regardless of religious affiliation and observance. Many who come know very little, some with Jewish education, and others none at all.

How much does it cost to come?

Nothing! Thanks to generous sponsors, there are no out-of-pocket costs to joining events and gatherings.

Is Chabad looking to make me Orthodox?

Not at all. We are looking to give Jewish students a home away from home and to grow a connection with the Almighty--not to make you observe anything more than you’re willing.pasted image 0 (3).png
